Runaways (Season 1)
"Dark days ahead."
Every teenager thinks their parents are evil. What if you found out they actually were? Six diverse teenagers who can barely stand each other must unite against a common foe – their parents.
LA teens discover their parents are a supervillain cult. Standalone Hulu series — no Doomsday thread.
Why It Matters in the MCU
The Hulu series follows six teenagers who discover their parents are a secret criminal organisation, and the family dynamic — both the parents' world and the children's rebellion against it — is more interesting than the superhero elements the later seasons introduce. The Pride's morally compromised parental figures are the series' strongest creative achievement: adults who genuinely love their children and are also genuinely terrible people, making the conflict generationally specific in ways that resonate outside genre. The series is the most coming-of-age-focused production in the extended Marvel television universe.
Where It Fits in the MCU
Runaways (Season 1) sits at position 68 of 133 in the MCU's story-chronological order, placing it within the Phase 3C — Ragnarok & The Infinity War (2018) era. It is rated Optional — can be skipped without losing the main thread. Watching in story-chronological order provides the most coherent character development experience — individual arcs build naturally toward the franchise's major crossover events, with each film's post-credits scenes carrying forward into what follows.
