Why It Matters in the MCU
A spin-off nobody was asking for, greenlit on the strength of Jennifer Garner's television profile rather than the reception of the film it came from. Elektra strands a genuinely interesting premise — an assassin confronting her own resurrection — inside a mystical-ninja plot that never commits to being either a character study or an action film. Its commercial failure ended Fox's street-level Marvel ambitions for a decade and, together with Daredevil, established the pattern the studio would repeat: acquire a character, adapt it once without conviction, and let the rights lapse into dormancy.

Elektra sits at position 29 of 165 in the MCU's story-chronological order, placing it within the Legacy: 2000s era. It is rated Optional — can be skipped without losing the main thread.
