Nick Fury is the franchise's architect rather than its hero. His role across the MCU is primarily institutional: the man who saw the need for the Avengers Initiative before anyone else did, who assembled the team, who managed the intelligence infrastructure, and who — it turns out — has been replaced by a Skrull shapeshifter for years while the real Fury managed crises from an orbital space station.
